Sisikon is located on the eastern shore of Lake Uri on the Riemenstaldnerbach delta. In the north, Sisikon borders on the Schwyz communities of Morschach and Riemenstalden, in the south on the Uri communities of Flüelen and Bürglen. The village is overlooked by striking foothills of the Alps: the Fronalpstock in the northeast and the Kaiserstock chain in the southeast with the outermost peak Rophaien above Sisikon. To the west, the view from the village is open across the lake to the glacier pyramid of the Urirotstock, to the mountains above the lake such as the Oberbarenstock, to the towns of Bauen and Seelisberg and to the Rütli clearing settlement. Thanks to the mild climate, figs and kiwis thrive in Sisikon. The name Sisikon was first documented in a letter of protection from Beromünster Abbey from 1173 as “an estate in Sysinchon”. The name refers to Alemannic settlers during the early medieval immigration period between the 5th and 19th centuries. and the 9th century. The name is probably derived from “Siso” and means court of the Sisinge. Siso could be the abbreviation of a name like Sigisbert or Sigismund. It is believed to be possible that much earlier Celts and Gallo-Romans lived on Lake Uri for a time, based on place and field names. The Riemenstalderbach stream that runs through Sisikon has repeatedly led to natural disasters for centuries. The village was also hit by large rockfalls, as in 1801, when a rock face 300 meters long and 250 meters high fell into the lake and caused a huge tidal wave that killed 14 people in Siskon. Flüelen (Italian Fiora) is a municipality in the canton of Uri in Switzerland. Neighboring communities are Seedorf in the southwest, Sisikon in the north, Bürglen in the east and Altdorf in the south. Flüelen is located at the southern end of Lake Uri, an arm of Lake Lucerne, between the confluence of the Reuss and the Rophaien mountain range to the east of the lake. In the lower part of the Rophaien mountain slope, the almost 400 meter high rock face of the Axen rises directly out of the lake. Until she was 19 she formed Century an insurmountable traffic obstacle for vehicles between Brunnen and the canton of Uri. In the northeast, the municipal boundary roughly follows the watershed with the striking mountains Hüenderegg, Hagelstock, Siwfass and Diepen, which is 2222 m above sea level. M. represents the highest point in the municipal area. The small lake Gross Flesch is located at the pass from Gruontal to Selezalp above the village of Bürglen. The steep valley of the Gruonbach from the high Alp Schön Chulm to Lake Uri makes up the largest part of the municipal area. Since 1884, numerous dams and torrent barriers have been built into the bed of the creek to protect the Usserdorf part of the settlement, which spreads out over the creek's original scree fan, and the important traffic routes. Like the smaller streams that flow from the mountain slopes to Lake Lucerne near Flüelen, the Gruonbach poses a significant risk of flooding and mudslides after heavy rainfall. When the Reuss and other bodies of water in the neighboring valleys run off very heavily, Lake Lucerne bursts its banks, as in the flood of 2005, when the village center and the entire industrial district of Flüelen on the plain were flooded.[3] The Reuss riverbed was flooded after several floods in the first half of the 19th century. Century had devastated the valley floor near Altdorf and Flüelen, straightened from 1850 to 1863 and secured with dams. in the 20th In the 19th century, however, the Reuss broke through the flood dams several times. The 1987 floods damaged many homes and railroad facilities and flooded the highway. After this event, the Canton of Uri enlarged the channel in the Reuss Canal and built additional protection systems and a dam half a kilometer east of the Reuss up to Lake Uri. The forest on the steep mountain slope above the village center of Flüelen was declared a protected forest as early as 1382. The Because of its topography, forestry classifies it as an «extreme rockfall protection forest».[5] According to a Landsgemeinde resolution of 1675, the Gruonwald jointly belongs to the corporate communities of Flüelen, Altdorf and Bürglen.[6] From the alluvial plain of the Reuss on Lake Lucerne, the right side of the Reuss delta with the largely marshy ground belongs to Flüelen. The large gravel deposits at the delta margin have been known since the late 19th century. Century exploited by the dredging company Arnold & Co. AG, which has been using dredging machines since 1897.[7] Since the Uri Reuss Delta Act came into force in 1986, gravel exploitation has been coordinated with landscape protection in the Reuss Delta area. Around 1.8 million tons of rock from the excavated material from the Gotthard Base Tunnel were used for embankments in the lake in front of the Reuss Delta. Three new islands ("Neptune Islands") were created.[8][9] The village settlement is located in a narrow strip of land by the lake and consists of the merged districts of Oberdorf, Dorf and Usserdorf. The commercial district of Flüelen is located between the railway line and the Reuss. Brick production is first documented in Flüelen in 1560.[16] In 1576, Knight Walter von Roll took over the brickworks. The first known brickworks was in the outskirts of the village on the site of the property that is still called «Ziegelhaus» today. The brickworks and building materials trading company Bernhard Ziegler & Söhne AG has been part of the HGC building materials group since 2015. Until the middle of the 17th At the beginning of the 19th century, Flüelen was part of Altdorf UR. Since then the community has been independent. In 1837, steamboats started operating regularly on Lake Lucerne. When the railway was built around 1870 on the lake shore, most of the old port facility was filled in and the village landscape was greatly changed. In 2015 the village celebrated its 750th anniversary Source: WikipediaIf combined shipping via eBay doesn't work, I will of course refund the overpaid shipping costs!
