An important and oft overlooked history of various writing genres in Texas written by a member of the Sisters of Incarnate Word and Blessed Sacrament, Mary Louise Sheehan [Sister Mary Agatha] 1899-1967. Agatha taught and acted as librarian at Incarnate Word Academy in Houston, established school libraries and advised librarians through the Catholic Library Association, and taught literature and library methods at the University of St Thomas and Our Lady of Perpetual Help Junior College. This book gives an overview of writing in the state from the from the 16th century through the early 20th century, including writers such as J. Frank Dobie, J. Evetts Haley, and others. We have not previously encountered Agatha's signature, and the dust jacket itself is quite uncommon. .
