Description: Maker: One of the great porcelain manufacturers at the turn of the last century, the firm of the incomparable Jean Pouyat was a major player in Limoges, with a factory that began production in 1842. After merging with the William Guerin company and being taken over by Bawo & Dotter, the Pouyat company closed around 1932. Age: This set of 6 beautiful octagonal salad plates has the Pouyat decorator's mark number 5 that was in use from 1906 to around 1932, and the green Pouyat JP Limoges white ware mark number 5 that was in use from 1891 to 1932. Source: Distinctive Limoges Porcelain by Keith and Thomas Waterbrook-Clyde. The green retail mark of the iconic Philadelphia department store Wanamaker's also appears. Design: The set is in the pattern that replacements.com calls POY214, with pink and yellow flowers and a yellow and black verge. Size: The plates are 7 3/8 inches wide and together weigh 2 pounds 15 ounces. Condition: There are no marks, nicks, chips, cracks, stains, discoloration, repairs or crazing. There is wear to the gold edges - it's shown in several photos. Please check all the photos very carefully - they are an important part of the description.
