Attests to the late collector’s keen eye, his understanding of the shin hanga print and its technical innovations, and his discipline in selecting prints in the best condition. The November auction will mark the collection’s first appearance in public since it was last exhibited at the Everson Museum of Art and the University of Michigan Museum of Art in 1986. According to Judith Dowling, Director of Asian Works of Art at Skinner, “Not only are many of these very rare prints, but they are in fine condition, having remained in controlled storage for nearly three decades.
