Description: This auction is for the actual Robbins medallion you see in the scans. It’s from the Skylab 2 mission, and originated from the collection of the last man on the moon, Gene Cernan. It comes with Cernan’s hand signed loa and its individually numbered and issued snap case. This medallion represents the most rare of all pre-shuttle flown medallions. 300 total were minted for the mission but the crew only carried 50 with them during their 28-day mission. This one is individually numbered 17, which I presume was given to Cernan for his Apollo 17 flight. As a side note to the numbering, Collins was given medallion #11 and Young was given medallion#16 so there was clearly some attention paid to whom received certain numbers. It’s in the exact condition as when it left Cernan’s collection. I’ve only removed it from the snap case to take these photos. This medallion traveled over 11.5 million miles in space and orbited the earth 404 times! Free usps shipping in the USA. Will be well protected in transit. Any questions at all, please feel free to write me. Thank you for looking!
