Description: At nearly 6.5"H, this Heubach snow baby container is now called a *“no snow” by collectors. It was manufactured around 1910 when so much of the work in porcelain factories was done by hand by exceptionally skilled artists. The modeling and perhaps even the size are testaments to the rarity and value of the piece. The three children sit on a wooden sled clad in clothing from the early 20th century. The two boys wear snowsuits, and the girl in the middle has on a ruffling skirt. This container is an authentic antique, being over one hundred years old. Notice the marks on the bottom, which include the model number and artists’ marks; one could be the person who painted the basic colors yellow with green and white, and the other the detail artist. Because my husband and I are advancing in age, I am selling my collection and hoping to find collectors for my wonderfully loved pieces. *”No Snow” is the term given to this type of piece by Mary Morrison, the pre-eminent authority and author on Snow Babies, No Snows, Blue Snows, etc. If you are interested in antique or vintage snow babies, try to get one of her books on Amazon or another used book site. Here is some information from an oldie like me: German snow babies, or German-made ANYTHING from pre-World War ll, are generally beautifully crafted and painted. Look carefully at the details. That’s where the distinction lies.
