He was born Clarence Edward Mauldin, but wasadopted by a couple named Smith, and thus became Clarence Smith. He began performing in the late 1950s. In 1967 he changed his name to Sonny Rhodes. He has recorded at least two hundred songs, and has released more than a dozen albums. The autograph is in blue ink, on a 3" by 1.5" piece of paper.
