Description: Beautiful and rare Sony TC 510-2, same as TC-5550-2, Netflix's Mindhunter intro tape recorder! "Sony's Nagra" is one of the smallest high quality reel-to-reel tape recorder, made for field recordings but with specs up to the highest standards! ***In great condition, the recorder shows some wear as seen on the photos but is overall in a superb state of presentation. The clear lid cover is free of major scratches and hinges correctly. The silver and chrome buttons and nobs are all in a great shiny condition, as is the top brushed aluminium cover around the reels. The recording, erasing and playing heads are all clear of any wear as are the tension rollers and capstan. Overall, nothing is missing from the recorder. Comes with its 220v main's power adapter with locks securely in the machine and works perfectly. For US operation, a clean DC12v alimentation will work perfectly with the barrel plus on the left side. ***The playing side is perfectly functional on both channels with a clear and rich sound free of wow and flutter; although some adjustment would make it perfect. Video shows it playing through the monitor speaker which of course is only useful for testing.The reel to reel records well on the right channel but not on the left channel. I have thoroughly cleaned the heads and connections, which means some capacitors may be at fault: someone with better knowledge might repair it easily. Overall, a magnificent peace of design and engineering which with some electronic care will come back to its former glory. It's already gorgeous and sounds great playing a pre-recorded tape! The reels of tape are for demonstration purposes and do not come with the players: the two reel securing metal screws belong to the recorder however and will obviously go along with it. ***The recorder will be shipped with thorough protection in a large packing box.
