In these poems the reader gets a graphic picture of the rural customs and practices in an old South that is fast fading into history. This picture includes scenes of heart-rending pathos as well as those that are crude, rustic, and ofttimes hilariously ridiculous. He loves his homeland with a passion born of frontier stock, and sings of the things of his yesteryears with a lyric passion born of untarnished devotion. It is a nostalgic presentation of "The things he has known" in his beloved Southland, that they not pass to oblivion unsung. The Dust Jacket has a Small Area of Rubbing to the Bottom Fore Edge Corner of the Front Cover, some Foxing, and some Edgewear, including a 1 1/4" long Tear at the Top Fore Edge Corner of the Front Cover and a Few Small, 1/2" long or Smaller Tears and associated Small, Light Creases along the Edges but the Dust Jacket has No Stains or Other Major Damage. The Hardcover Boards have some Foxing but retain Sharp Corners with No Tears, Creases, Stains, or Other Major Damage. The Binding is Strong and Intact. The Interior is Clean and Unmarked (other than the Author's Signature and Inscription, of course) with No Writing, Highlighting, or Underlining and has No Tears, Creases, Stains, Mold, or Any Major Damage. The Page Edges have some Foxing to the Top Edge but No Remainder Mark, Stains, or Other Major Damage.
