This map is folding hence the centrefold line may show on the image below: Czechoslovakia includes Carpathian Ruthenia, which it administered until it was occupied and annexed by Hungary in 1939; it was subsequently occupied by the Soviet Army in 1946, thereafter becoming part of the Ukraine. The map shows the occupation by Greek forces of the city of Smyrna (modern-day Izmir) and surrounding areas, as was the case between 15 May 1919 until 9 September 1922. The Allied Powers authorized the occupation and creation of the Zone of Smyrna during post First World War negotiations regarding the partition of the Ottoman Empire to protect the ethnic Greek population living in and around the city. The map also shows the majority of Eastern or Turkish Thrace as Greek territory (today it is the European part of Turkey). The map tentatively includes in the territory of Armenia the lands granted to it by the Treaty of Sèvres of 1920 within Ottoman Armenia, in what is today eastern Turkey.
