Butukhanov - participant in the Great Patriotic War, Minister of Internal Affairs of the Buryat Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic, Major General of the Police, Honorary Citizen of Buryatia. Nikolai Vasilyevich Butukhanov (January 18, 1924 - February 21, 2020), retired police major general, was born in the Buryat village of Korsakovo. From September 15, 1942, he underwent military training at the Transbaikal Machine Gun and Mortar School at the Divisionnaya station. On February 18, 1943, he was sent to the Western Front, where he joined the 277th Infantry Division. In the post-war years, Nikolai Butukhanov was elected secretary of the Komsomol organization of his native collective farm "Comintern", and then approved as the head of the organizational department of the Baikal-Kudarinsky Republic Committee of the Komsomol.
