She began her career as an art teacher. Her design credits are from Ohio State University, the Cleveland Art Institute and the Rhode Island School of Design. In 1989 she designed her first commercial piece of fabric. The “right person” happened upon her designs. Quickly they were turned into fabric, and a career got rolling. Robbins has developed a following for her vibrant and coordinated fabrics. At quilting shops, the selvage edge, the self-finished edge of the fabric, carries the Susie Robbins name. She also designs quilt patterns for sale by her company, Peddlers of Danville.
