Maurice Ceramics (Maurice of California) was founded by Maurice Pechman (1924-2011) in 1954 in Los Angeles, California. Pechman was born in Krakow, Poland. He survived internment at Aushwitz concentration camp. He arrived in the United States in 1950. The company produced its own line of ceramics, as well as importing pottery, glass and dinnerware from Europe and the Orient. It was in business until at least 1985. Condition: All four pieces (which includes the lid) are in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or breaks. The aqua blue color is strikingly bright and the gold is very lusterous.
