Postmarked Aug.22,1961, Boston, Mass. Corners and edges show slight blemishes.Very Good conditionFYI: The Milwaukee Clipper is 102 years old, is the last surviving U.S. passenger steamship on the Great Lakes and is a National Historic Landmark. She made her maiden voyage as Juniata in 1905. Wisconsin-Michigan Steamship Co. purchased her in 1940, and converted her into the streamlined ferry Milwaukee Clipper. She could carry up to 900 passengers and 120 automobiles. Sailing from 1941, she operated for 29 years until the Wisconsin-Michigan Steamship Co. retired in 1970. Laid up at Muskegon for eight years, she was eventually sold and towed to Chicago's Navy Pier as a floating attraction, renamed Clipper. The Hammond Port Authority bought the ship in 1990 and renamed her Milwaukee Clipper, they attempted to make her into an attraction for the Lake Michigan Marina. Purchased by a nonprofit group in late 1997, with plans to convert her into a floating museum and convention center.
