The people realized that there was less sickness after drinking beer rather than water and thought it was because of St Arnold's divine intervention. Actually the beer was healthier was because it was heated while being made, killing the bacteria.= Because of his love of beer, St Arnold is the patron of brewers and beer-drinkers.
