The artist is a ceramic teacher and was living in St. Petersburg in 2008 when she was featured in the Tampa Tour de Clay in 2008. As stated on their website: https://tampatourdeclay.com/tj-erdahl-stephanie-stuefer “St. Petersburg artists Thaddeus (TJ) Erdahl and his wife Stephanie Stuefer use references of well-loved toys and obsolete artifacts to imply a history of these objects to encourage viewers to disconnect from the present situation and conjure their own individual narratives from his sculptures. TJ says, “Working with concepts that are personal and sometimes narcissistic perceptions of the gloomy side of life, dark humor is my buffer. Dry or irreverent, it is humor that mystifies the tragic.” From the website of Ceramic Council of Princeton (see link below) Stephanie Stuefer has worked with clay since the age of 14 and she has attended 4 different universities and numerous art centers. She received her B.F.A. in Ceramics from the University of Georgia and her M.F.A. in Ceramics from the University of Florida according to the Ceramic Council of Princeton. She was a guest artist in 2011. Stuefer also studied at the University of Tennessee and Louisiana State University as a post baccalaureate student. She has been a resident artist at Red Star Studios in Kansas City, MO, Glennfalock Pottery in Dunedin, New Zealand, and the Armory Art Center in West Palm Beach, FL. After teaching ceramics at The Putney School’s Summer Program in 2009, she realized her calling as an independent school teacher. Stephanie has been teaching ceramics at all levels for 9 years and this has been her first year as Princeton Day School’s new ceramics teacher.
