The Sheriff of San Augustine County is commanded to summon Henry Russell to appear at the present term of the County Court, held in the town of San Augustine on the 3rd Monday "in this inst" to give evidence in the case between Dan'l. Symons, plaintiff and David Brown, defendant. Signed by S.W. Blount, Clerk of the County Court. Docketed on verso, and signed by the sheriff Wm. Kimbro. Old horizontal fold line, some old spotting, else very good. Stephen William Blount was born in Georgia, and moved to Texas in 1835. He settled in San Augustine and represented it at the Convention of 1836. He was one of the signers of the Texas Declaration of Independence, and later joined Capt. William Ratcliff's company in the Texas army. He served as first county clerk of San Augustine County, and as its postmaster. During the Civil War he acted as fiscal agent for the Confederate States of America. Sheriff William Kimbro (ca.1810-1856) was a veteran of the Battle of San Jacinto, and twice was elected sheriff of San Augustine County.
