Description: Personal Note: I've been gone on a long road trip to the Midwest where my wife and I got to participate in my second daughter's wedding. Yay! Anyway, I'm back and I'm putting things back on eBay, especially old and rare comic books. In celebration, I will be taking at least 20% off of the previous prices of many items that I've posted before, including this one. Strange Mysteries #4, March 1952 from Superior Comics. A great Golden Age pre-code horror issue. As are most of these "weird horror" comics from the early 1950's, I'd say this one is at least scarce. The cover shows a girl being menaced which so often shows up in these comics. The green hands coming out of the mirror seemingly can't decide whether to grab the girl or just pull her blouse off! And notice the axe by her head; judging by the cobwebs, it's not really a threat, but the artist stuck it in anyway. Stories include "Hands of Death", "Ghouls Unmasked", "Terror's Prisoner", and, of course "Rat Men of Paris". Wait till you see the Queen of the Rat Men! Condition looks generally about Good. It is complete and unrestored and the interior is solid. The printing (or folding) error (occurs more or less in most if not all copies of this issue) put the cover a little off to the side with the staples not exactly on the spine. The spine has some splits, it has some chipping on the right side, and there's a small tear at the bottom of the back cover. Check the scans and photos for the actual condition. This item will be bagged (in Mylite) and boarded and sent in a Gemini Comic Mailer packaged within a USPS Priority legal envelope. Thanks for looking! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ A Bit of BackgroundI started collecting comics in the early 1960s. Going off to college in 1969, I sold all my comics to the local barbershop for a nickel apiece. (And thought I got a good deal!) But a year or so later, the amazing era of early 70s comics drew me back in, especially Kirby's Fourth World, Bernie Wrightson, Michael Kaluta, Neal Adams, Barry Smith, and so many more. Who could resist? And I've been reading comics ever since. But now it's time to pass them on. I will be selling key books, Golden Age, Silver Age, and Bronze Age. Figurines, undergrounds, original art, souvenirs from the San Diego Comic Con from the early 70s on. And especially esoteric, eclectic, GGA, and just plain weird comics from the 40s and 50s. These are generally super rare and I've been searching them out for over 40 years. I'm sure there are more categories I've forgotten (like Archies). It will take a while to get going on these, but if this kind of stuff is interesting, you might want to look at my other sale items and save me as a seller. I will be dedicated to getting positive feedback only and will try to solve any problem!
