The merits of this plant makes it very suitable ground cover and a companion planting in and around and maybe under other shrubbery. These plants depending on their growing season can be dormant crowns or actively growing plants ... depends what month they are lifted and shipped. If you decide to order and cannot immediately plant them ... they can be healed in in spare pot or planter and can wait until it is proper time .... they can winter over in proper container and then moved tho their permanent home when spring arrives. For those growers unfamiliar with dormant plants ... the leaves or stems if any ... are not much to admire ... they have done their job and soon will be replaced with new growth when it's time for that. After all they survive year to year in the ground and here in my area it has ranged from a low of -23 degrees in Jan 1985 to an average winter now of about -5 degrees for couple days ... usually warmer. Like all wintering plant material this plant appreciates a good snow cover or other mulch for that added bit of winter protection from drying out. Late February and March is when the cold winds do their damage on any plant not protected from wind exposure. Instructions for heeling in, final planting and care are enclosed with the plants. I have never, over 47 years failed to experience their appearance come spring and that is/was achieved with NO care or feeding ... those little girls were on their own ... wink----------
