In 1936, Terrell Evans hired on with the U.S. Bureau of Mines and relocated to Boulder City, Nevada. His Uncle Arthur and Arthur's children, Ferrell and Dorothy, soon followed. By 1946 they had established Pinto Pottery which was reorganized in 1949 as Desert Sands Pottery. They also ran the successful Desert Sands Gift Shop on Nevada Highway in Boulder City. Arthur Evans passed away in 1962 and at this time his nephew, Terrell, relocated Desert Sands Pottery to Barstow, California. Production continued until he closed down operations in 1975. Desert Sands pottery, similar to Niloak, is always fascinating, attractive, highly collectible one-of-a-kind, and is becoming harder and harder to find.
