Description: Presented is a stunning pair of Georgian tongs from 1814. This piece has a great simple form with beautiful hand engraved decorations throughout the entire exterior. Likely used for sugar originally, but these tongs could also be used for small pastries or whatever you like.There is a monogram on the back end of the piece, R F L, in a flowing script. The inside of the tongs are marked with full English Hallmarks: the lion passant for sterling silver, the duty mark of King George III, and the date letter T, representing 1814. The piece is also marked on the other interior side with the maker's mark, PB WB, for Peter & William Bateman. These tongs are in excellent condition. The pattern details are crisp and well-defined. There is no crease at the back of the tongs. There are no breaks and no repairs.
