Description: Presented is a wonderful antique American Victorian 10 karat yellow gold mourning or memorial type ring, dating to circa the 1820s-1840s. The ring is beautifully made, with a fine ropetwist design to the domed bars that cover the head of the ring, where a plait of hair would be set underneath. The interior of the band is inscribed “HMW to LMP.” The ring itself is in excellent overall condition. If it was ever set with hair, that is no longer present. As you can see clearly in the fifth photograph, the band has been resized at some point. This ring is not stamped or hallmarked, but we have tested it with nitric acid and guarantee it to be 10 karat purity. The ring is a size 6 3/4. The head of the ring is about 6.1 millimeters wide, while the band is about 2.1 millimeters wide at the narrowest point. This ring weighs 2 grams. -jm Powered by SixBit's eCommerce Solution
