Description: Presented is a fabulous English Georgian sterling silver reticulated dish. This piece dates to 1778 and was made by Robert Makepeace and Richard Carter. The mazarine has a simple foot on the underside, which is a later addition. The reticulated dish itself probably began life as a mazarine, or liner for a fish platter. The tray is beautifully hand pierced with cut out quatrefoil, fan and scroll designs. Use this piece to serve cookies, cupcakes, or anything else you like, perfect for the holidays. This piece is in great overall condition. There are no splits, no breaks, no dents, no cracks, no monograms, no monogram removals, and no repairs. This piece is hallmarked on the underside with the lion passant for sterling silver, the leopard's head crowned for the city of London, the date letter C for 1778, and the maker's mark for Robert Makepeace and Richard Carter. The foot of the tray, which is a later addition, is hallmarked with a maker's mark of S.M. or W.S This piece measures 14 1/4 inches by 11 inches.
