To describe it in one word: FABULOUS! Hollywood Regency style with influences from world known interior designers, Maitland Smith and Karl Springer. Precise cut pieces of veined tesselated stone and marble in ivory and ebony. Each piece is inlaid and fused with 1/8" wide threads of brass sandwiched between them. The box core is wood and it has an 8-sided octagon shape. A rich black felt lining on the inside and the same fabric covers the bottom. Lid has slightly raised dome shape. It's a very unique, hand-made piece. Meticulously created with a gorgeous contemporary art pattern and fits into many styles of today's home decor. About the Artist: Designed for Casa Bique by award winning, world known interior designer, Robert Marcius.Casa Bique was a custom furniture maker in the 1980's. They are retired. They made special pieces for interior designers in a factory in the Philippines. It was in the same factory where Maitland Smith and Karl Springer, 2 other award winning and highly regarded designers (in the interior design world), created most of their famous world know,unique designs. No cracks or missing stone pieces. Light surface scuffs in spots and few tiny nicks from age and shelfwear. Metal inlay has tarnish and needs a good polishing if desired. These minor flaws do not detract from the stunning beauty of this handsome art piece. Velvet covered bottom is in very good condition with no rips, has light fade.
