Description: One nice feature of this 160-page book is the maps by Hal Jespersen, done especially for this book and others in the series (The History Press Civil War Sesquicentennial Series). This book is from a pet-free, smoke-free home, so there are no odors in the paper of the book. The book isn't softcover but I assume not a typical hardcover either. The cover is hard boards that are colored front and back, with no DJ required. The spine is hard / stiff. The Battle of Pea Ridge, Arkansas, only a few miles from Missouri, was fought in early 1862. It was the only major land battle fought west of the Mississippi during the Civil War. It pitted Samuel Curtis's Union army against Earl Van Dorn's. The Union victory there allowed them to control MO and AR for the rest of the war. During the battle, two Confederate Generals were killed- Ben McCulloch and James McKintosh.
