Description: THE BEATLES: ANTHOLOGY 2, EXTREMELY RARE 1996 PROMOTIONAL "MULTIMEDIA CD-ROM" PRESS KIT APPLE RECORDS Original 1996 BEATLES "ANTHOLOGY 2" CD-ROM PRESS KIT Issued to promote the release of the “Anthology 2” Three Album Set. This ultra rare PROMO CD-ROM contains press information, Video Clips, Sound Bites, Interviews, music and high resolution photography for the Beatles Anthology 2. Very limited numbers were manufactured and not many were distributed, as a portion were handed out “in house” to key staff at EMI Records and only key media got one of these, not the usual blanket mail out. I’ve heard they were limited to 500 in the UK/Europe and 3000 in the USA. 1500 of the USA CD-ROM's went to the label for "in house" use. A few thousand world wide for an act as big as The Beatles is an incredibly low number. As my copy is still FACTORY SEALED I’ve had to search the net looking for pics and info. ONLY THE FIRST 4 PICS OF THIS AD ARE MINE, the rest are borrowed from various fan sites so you can see what’s inside. It comes with an introduction written by The Beatles Press Officer, Derek Taylor, printed on high quality onion skin card stock. Apparently this CD-rom was programmed not to work after a certain date in 1996, so you need to be a bit of a computer wiz to access it’s contents. I’ve read you need to set-up some VM software and run a legacy operating system with the date set back to 1995 for it to work as intended. “EUO” sticker on the back signifies UK/Europe and I would assume PAL Video.
