Description: Please Please Me - Black & Gold labels plus label misprints - Initial Run of the First Pressing Purchased by me soon after it was released. All of my albums were put into plastic sleeves to protect them so the cover is in good condition. I never took my albums to any parties & I was careful when playing them. The album & it's parts are original & are the same set of items I purchased all those years ago. This is the mono recording PMC1202. Condition Looking at other albums that are graded on eBay I'd say the cover for mine is VG as it has no rips or tears & the spine is in good shape - there is some wear to the spine and top edge, however the corners have stood the test of time. The laminate has no tears & still in one piece so is VG+. The record labels look almost new as I took care when playing my albums - no spindle damage and nearly always holding the album by the edges. The vinyl has been played quite a lot in the early years but the condition is very good. So I believe the labels are probably EX & the vinyl is at least VG. The inner sleeve is VG with no tears to the front or rear and the inner polythene is still intact....however, one of the edges has opened in the middle mainly through age I think. Timeline of the Album Prior to the Please Please Me album being released, the Beatles released their first two singles with the songs Love Me Do, PS I Love You, Please Please Me and Ask Me Why, all published by Dick James Mus. Co. The Please Please Me album was recorded on 11th February 1963 and The Northern Songs publishing company was created on 22nd February 1963. The album was released on 22nd March 1963 and on the 1st pressing had a black & gold printed label with The Parlophone Co. Ltd printed on the perimeter. The album contained both sides of the two singles plus 10 new recordings, 6 of which were covers and 4 were new Lennon/McCartney songs. These 4 new songs should have been credited to the newly established Northern Songs publishing company. Specific to My Copy My album has the black/gold label so comes from that first pressing. In the rush to release the album the following label print errors were made during the very first run of the album.... Dick James Mus. Co incorrect publishing credit for the 4 new songs I Saw Her Standing There & Misery on side 1, Do You Want To Know A Secret & Theres A Place on side 2. The above errors were corrected to Northern Songs for subsequent runs of the first black/gold pressing and all future pressings. My album has these label print errors so it must be from that very first early run of the album making it a particularly rare copy. In addition.....the details stamped on the vinyl are as follows.... Side 1 - "XEX421 - 1N" and Side 2 - "XEX422 - 1N" Also, embossed lettering M and T are on the centre of the label on side 1. Please look carefully at the pictures to assess the above details and the condition and if you require further pics or have any questions please don't hesitate to ask. Thanks for looking at my listing & for your interest.
