Description: This CITY COLLEGE OF NEW YORK Tobacco Leather (sometimes erroneously referred to as a Cigarette or Tobacco Card ) featuring an image of one of the School Buildings as is was back in 1908 (apparently some of the buildings used in this series have been torn down since), was issued by the American Tobacco Company of Richmond Virginia and New York, as a Premium in their Brands of Mogul , Fatima , Piedmont , and Murad Cigarettes and Tobacco in 1908. It is a larger size than most leathers, measuring 3 5/8 inches by 2 5/8 inches approximately. It is listed as series number L41 in Burdick’s American Card Catalogue, and entitled “College Building and Shield”. The building itself is embossed onto the leather. It does have some small stitch holes at the borders of the leather. I have scanned the leather fairly large for you to be able judge condition for yourself. This over 110 year old collectable would make an excellent display piece framed with a College or University acceptance letter or degree (as it is over 100 years old it is an official American antique) . It would look great in any dorm room and would make a great gift for any Alumni or Freshman this Christmas. (especially with NCAA Football underway).
