Description: Title: The Constant Couple, or, Trip to the Jubilee - a comedy by George Farquhar Description: A unique, museum-quality item. This is Alec Clunes' copy, and bears his handwritten amendments and director's notes to almost every page, in addition to further notes in other hands. Alec Clunes directed and starred in this production of Farquhar's Restoration Comedy, which ran from September 1945 to January 1946. The other cast members have signed this copy for Clunes, so that there are 12 signatures on the Dramatis Personae page, in addition to Clunes' initials "AC" (see picture). Signatures include Derek Birch and Robert Maude. Bound in blue card covers with cloth spine. 10 inches by 8 inches. It is in well-used condition with some wear and fading, and rubbing to the title label (see pictures). Internally well-used, with working notes to every page. Binding sound and square. A unique item.
