Description: George Bell & Sons 1893 - 1899. Edited by Henry B. Wheatley F. S. A. Condition overall is good - ivory and tan boards with gold lettering. Text is clean and unmarked, boards and bindings are sturdy. Pages are lightly tanned with age, pastedowns show foxing but little foxing on text, boards show only slight shelf and edgewear. Deckle edges and boards are soiled. First volume has statement: "Only 250 copies of this Volume are printed on Large Paper, of which this is No. 146" with the "146" handwritten in ink. Volume II doesn't have this statement; Vols. III through IX and Pepsyiana show the printed statement but no number. This is a handsome set for an office or personal library.
