Description: THE FRINGES OF POWER by John Colville Downing Street Diaries 1939-1955 Published by W. W. Norton & Company in 1985 - First Edition This is a fascinating look at the events at 10 Downing Street, the residence and office of the British Prime Minister, as seen by the Private Secretary to Winston Churchill as well serving for Neville Chamberlain and Clement Attlee. The book is in very good condition; the spine is tight and the cover is clean with minor scuffing and/or bumping. The pages are clear and sharp. There is a gift inscription on the page opposite the half-title page. The dust jacket is price clipped with minor chipping and is in very good condition; it is in a plastic cover. There is a sticker, similar to a library's, on the plastic cover (from the previous owner). See photographs. This is a wonderful historical book and it would be an excellent addition to anyone's library. The book is about 6-1/4" x 9-1/2" x 2", 796 pages, and about 1-2 lbs.+/- with packaging.
