It is "The Little Prince" by Antoine De Saint-Exupery. Originally published by Reynal & Hitchcock, New York. 1943. Reynal & Hitchcock publishers merged with, and was absorbed by Harcourt, Brace and Co., 1948. This copy appears to have been published just at the point of the publisher merger--the dust cover provides a Harcourt, Brace name and address on the front flap and the text of the book itself indicates the publisher was Harcourt, Brace. However, the base of the spine of the book still indicates Reynal & Hitchcock as the publisher. I believe this book to be a First Edition of the new, merged publishing company. It still carries the 1943 original publication date as the only date which appears on the copyright page. The book is clean and only scarcely-worn. Dust cover is price-clipped and shows a tear to spine and chipping to spine ends. There are tears at corners of front panel of jacket. I will call the book FINE, while the dust cover is only Good. Measures 7 1/4 X 9, 93 pages. I will offer this somewhat unusual copy of this classic children's book for only $135.00 plus $5.00 S&H in the US.
