Description: A Very good set of the 4 volumes in paperback. (11" x 8.5") No title pages. in really excellent condition seeing their age & type of binding.(stapled) All have small marks, a few softened corners, a few nicks, vol.1 has a 1.5" 'splodge' on centre left of cover, vol.3 has a crease down the centre of cover, both are not very apparent. one page has been repaired with parchment tape; overall a brilliant set. The illus by W.Heath Robinson are so redolent of his work. All have a coloured plate on the cover with different coloured borders. All have a further 2 full coloured plates, the remaining vignettes are different on every page! Each vol has 32 printed pages. Quite a find especially for those who collect W.H.R. Humorous verses giving the outline of each Monarch! Date is surmised; as there is no indication but, as it ends declaring that George 5th's reign has begun, it is assumed 1911 or very soon after. NB Sale Price Sold by an independent and solo ex-bookshop owner, with around 50 years of experience, who takes pride in listing and researching every volume. Someone who does not consider books as mere square objects with printing inside, fixed only on selling in huge quantities as quickly as possible, but one who takes deep interest not only in the book itself, but also its' history where possible. Handled with care whilst photographing, packed with care to protect & never naked in a plastic bag!!
