Description: The Rooster Crows: A Book of American Rhymes and Jingles was published by The Macmillan Company in 1945. It is stated “Published 1945” on the copyright page with no addition printings listed making this a 1st printing. This hardcover is 10-½” high by 8” wide, there is no pagination (64 pages) and it was illustrated by the authors. This book was Signed by Both the Authors on the front-free endpaper. This book is in Near Fine condition, there is some very light rippling to the top edge of the pages, a little chipping on the edge of the back endpapers where they had stuck together (very minor), otherwise this is a very nice, clean copy. The Dust Jacket has small tears, some edge wear, some loss at the spine ends, there is a Caldecott Medal on the front panel and the original price of $2.00 is still on the front flap. This Dust Jacket is printed on such thin paper that I am surprised any have survived. The Dust Jacket is now in a removable, archival protective cover, the photos were taken before the cover was added. This book was awarded the Caldecott Medal in 1946.
