The leather used for the covers and spine is a soft texture, almost like calfskin, which makes it susceptible to visible scratches and wear. That's the case here: there is what looks like shelf wear on the corners and along the outer edge of the front cover. There are also light scratches on the back cover, toward the bottom. The crevices of the leather texture have a lighter appearance (see photo). The gilded page edges on the long side have very light scratches toward the bottom.
