Description: Three Dog Night were at their peak at this time. Essentially 3 vocalists with a band of accomplished studio musicians, they played covers for the most part. But the introduction to the 1969 Forum show calls them one of the heaviest bands in the country, and they do play with more of a rock sound than most pop/top 40 bands of the time. They take their songs from an impressive group of artists. The live show begins with "Heaven is in Your Mind" and Feeling Alright", both from Traffic. "One" is a great Nillson track, and side 2 opens with The Band's "Chest Fever", including Jimmy Greenspoon's keyboard intro, a la Garth Hudson's "Genetic Method". "It Ain't Easy" has 2 Randy Newman tracks, including Three Dog Night's hit "Mama Told Me Not To Come". They also do "Your Song", an Elton John song before he was the megastar he would soon become. These to records, released in 1970, are an interesting window into the Pop scene in the late 60s/early 70s, when a band could rock hard and still be a top 40 success.
