TINY antique GILLETT sample EXTRACT bottle w/pic of OWL on MOON blown BIM glass

Description: A tiny 2 3/4 inch tall rectangular-shape deep SUN COLOR PURPLE glass antique bottle that is RARELY SEEN in this TINY SAMPLE SIZE and has a picture of an owl perched on a crescent moon embossed on it. This is the trade mark of the GILLETT EXTRACT Co. of Chicago. It is an ORIGINAL ANTIQUE hand Blown In Mold bottle (BIM) with a tooled top, dating back to the late 1800 - early 1900 era. Bottle embossed: "GILLETT / CHICAGO", with a picture of an OWL perched on a CRESCENT MOON. Note last two pictures show the paper label on a full sized Gillett's Extract bottle AND the base embossing of a Gillett's OLIVE bottle. These bottles are just pictured as a reference, to documents the embossing as a Gillett Extract Co. bottle, they are NOT part of this sale. Condition: Bottle is in good solid condition. It is seasoned with a heavy, aged patina finish, both inside and out, which only a century of time can mark a bottle with. The top is very crudely hand formed with lots of ups and downs that may look like flea bites but a close look reveals it is just manufactured marks. The bottle has NO cracks, chips, dings, damage, etc. It would easily polish to a sparkling clean state if desired. PLEASE see picture for general idea of bottle's overall appearance. And it has a GREAT LOOKING PICTURE of the tiny GILLETT COMPANY Trade - Mark, an OWL perched on a crescent MOON on front. This was a sample bottle as we have one with a label on it which says SAMPLE ... 1/2 OZ ... VANILLA EXTRACT etc. You do see these in the regular full sizes, GILLETT HIGH GRADE EXTRACT, which held flavoring extracts and food coloring, that have this same Owl Trade Mark embossed on them. This company started out in 1852 Chicago as the E. W. Gillett Co. and continued into the 1920's as the Sherer-Gillett Company, and after this I lose track of them. They also packaged different spices up in great looking old tins and boxes, with this same owl-on-the-crescent-moon trade mark. This little HALF OUNCE SAMPLE BOTTLE is one of the RAREST of them all.
