Description: Old Lega idimu mask (approximately 13 inches tall) previously in the private collection of Carl Provost. Carl (1931-1994) worked in Kinshasha, Congo in the 1960s and later became a noted appraiser and dealer. He was a contributor to African Arts journal and the author of the book “The Valuation of Traditional Art” This lot will be accompanied by a photograph of Provost’s home taken in 1970. The same photograph was included on the Christie’s Paris 2013 catalogue relating to another Provost Lega mask.
