Description: Triumph 500 1971-72 650 1971-72 Rocker Box Valve Inspection Copper Crush Washer (1) PN# 71-2080 E12080 1971-1972 Triumph 500 and 650 twin models. The copper crush washer is important to seal the oil in the rocker box after making tappet clearance adjustments. A total of four washers and plugs are used to gain access to each valve stem top using a feeler gauge. The copper crush washer is of a pleated design and is intended for a one-time use. It is recommended that the washer is replaced whenever the plug is removed from the rocker box. 5/8 ID and 7/8 OD. The washer is fitted under the hex head of the inspection plug. Once the washer is crushed whilst tightening the plug, it is collapsed to form an oil-tight seal. It should be replaced after removing the plug for tappet clearance adjustment.
