Two Tu-95M bombers were re-equipped, in case of a possible delay in the development of the Tu-114 liner.The aircraft was refitted as follows - all components and assemblies of weapons were completely dismantled, a pressurized passenger cabin from two compartments with portholes was mounted in the center section. The compartment for the first persons of the state was calculated for three people, the second salon - for 20 people. There was also a kitchen, a toilet, a service room for security. In the rear part of the bottom of the pressurized cabin there was an entrance ladder lowered down.The crew of the aircraft consisted of two pilots, a flight engineer, a flight radio operator, a navigator-navigator and a navigator-pilot (for international flights). There were two flight attendants and a navigator in the passenger cabin to inform senior officials about flight parameters and other special information requiring aviation education. Behind the cockpit, a compartment was equipped with additional oil tanks for the engines and hydraulic systems of the aircraft. A container with a parachute was installed in the tail section of the fuselage, designed for emergency descent. To save people during splashdown, two emergency inflatable boats LAS-5 and three inflatable rafts were installed on the plane.Both aircraft had civilian colors and Aeroflot registration numbers.
