Description: Italian painter Ulderico Marotto (1890-1985) Vintage print on Japanese rice paper print size 22" x 16" 28" x 19 3/4" total size include portrait Very good used condition only small cut in the up side(photo n.10) ---------------------------- Ulderico Marotto was born in San Michele Extra, on the outskirts of Verona, on August 22, 1890. In 1892 the Marotto family moved to Via XX Settembre and Ulderico attended elementary school. He starts working here with a decorator and attends the evening school of "Arts and Crafts" in Piazzetta Santa Eufemia, where he has the opportunity to make decorations at the Natural History Museum of Verona. In 1906 the Marotto family moved to Milan where Ulderico's ability was rewarded with the hiring of an international decoration company. In 1907 he enrolled in the "School of Art applied to Industry at the Castello Sforzesco, and at the same time attended the evening courses of the Brera Academy. On 25 October 1910 he was called up for military service and was discharged in 1912. In 1915 he was recalled to arms and remained there until August 1919. Returning to civilian life, he opened a studio in Milan in Via Cerva, also being as a graphic designer for publishing houses and packaging artistic scrolls. In 1920, considering his passion for watercolor, he was invited to the "VII Biennale of art of Brera" in the watercolors section. In 1928 he married Stella Castiglioni and Marcella was born from their marriage. In 1942 he moved to the house in San Michele Extra and opened a studio in Via Fogge.
