ULTRA RARE ASAHIFLEX MODEL IA w/ASAHI KOGAKU f/3.5 50mm FOR COLLECTION DISPLAY

Description: Here we have the Asahiflex Model IA, Serial Number 35304, produced by the Asahi Optical Company between May 1953 and September 1954. Cosmetically, this camera is in reasonably decent shape with the most noticeable issues being the missing or damaged leather trim, which can be repaired or replaced but even in its current condition, it would very nicely round out someone's display collection, especially as Model IA's are difficult to come by in any condition as only 15,500 of them were produced (Serial Numbers 30,000 - 45,500) - See Page 22 "The Ultimate Asahi Pentax Screw Mount Guide" By van Oosten. The Model IA succeeded Asahi's original SLR 35mm camera the Asahiflex I which premiered in May 1952 and was produced through October 1953. The Model IA was also distributed in the United States by Sears Roebuck & Co. under the Sears brand name "Tower 23". Comes with an f/3.5 50mm Asahi-Kogaku Takumar lens, s/n 38987, and with original Tower brand leather case. Lens is clear and fungus free. I am selling this camera in As Is Condition to a collector for VISUAL DISPLAY PURPOSES ONLY There are numerous mechanical issues and it needs a complete mechanical overhaul, which you can do or have done at your expense. Model IA Asahiflex bodies are an extremely rare find and you shouldn't be using them for photo work. This camera is intended to fill out an Asahiflex/Pentax collection.
