As a California native she has always felt the allure of the abundant variety of natural features offered in her home state. Born in Santa Maria, Barbara graduated from California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo as a history major, English minor. She earned her Master's degree in education from the same university and began a teaching and school site administrator career that spanned over 3 decades. During that time photography became an important part of hers and her husband's lives. Summer travel provided the opportunities to see new places and subjects that would expand their photographic interests, seeing the old and new places that they shared with one another. Being a co-owner of art and frame galleries that Floyd started provided the stage and experiences that have added to the repertoire of skills and versatility in thinking. Barbara has been featured in Strictly Business Magazine, a former Central Coast publication, designed to showcase local talents and to celebrate the entrepreneurial spirit. She has also written several articles and provided photographic contributions to that and other publications.
