Description: A very unusual 18th century Chinese export porcelain coffee cup & saucer with a very delicate entwined stem handle, decorated with a rich underglaze blue ground, swags of hand painted European style flowers and gilding. The set has the typical Chinese trimmed foot rim, left unglazed, and a slight ripple to the overall glazing which indicates their Chinese origin. *Probably made in imitation or as replacement for an 18th century Italian porcelain service . It doesnt show well in the photos but the blue ground is actually on a raised moulded section of the porcelain, indicating that these pieces were made for this pattern, not off the shelf blanks. Qianlong period. Date : circa 1780 Diameter of saucer : 5 (13.7cm) Condition : Good, slight wear to gilding, a very tiny nibble to the saucer which is hardly noticeable. No other damage or restoration.
