Description: Offered is the booklet entitled "Rhineland". It discusses military actions in western Germany from September 15, 1944 until March 21, 1945, which led to the final victory over German forces. Allied forces had broken out of Normandy and pushed east across France to the Seine River; other Allied armies were battling west from Normandy into Brittany. Following the landing in Southern France, the Allies were moving north through Leon and across the Seine and Saone Rivers. Russian troops were making progress against the Germans in the eastern part of that country. The Allied western front, which was considerably better armed, in terms of weapons and manpower, literally wore down the Germans, who were depleting their numbers and ill-supplied. German counter-offensives were unsustainable. The Allied western front, which was considerably better armed, in terms of weapons and manpower, literally wore down the Germans, who were depleting their numbers and ill-supplied. German counter-offensives were weak and unsustainable. While both sides suffered heavy casualties, Germany lost 300,000 men and vast amounts of un-replaceable supplies. This publication contains some great war maps, to include (a) the Allied breakout from Normandy and advance to the Seine, (b) the Allied sweep into Brittany, (c) the campaign in Southern France, (d) the battle of attrition along the Seine River between September and December 1944, (e) changes in the western front between December 1944 and February 1945, and (f) the Battle of the Rhineland in February and March 1945.
