The sale of this item was restricted to Kansas City MO ONLY on 1/11/1978 as the official First Day site.The stamps for general distribution were limited and went on sale the next day at Hartford CT , Memphis TN, Richmond VA, and Portland OR, which were designated official Test Centers for this Experimental Stamp. Additionally, on or after 1/12/1978, 150 USPS Philatelic Centers Nationwide were also provided limited amounts of the stamps for sales to collectors. So it was possible to create 2nd day Unofficial FDC's at at any other city in the country, if you could have obtained the stamps at one of these other locations, and then had them cancelled locally. These 2nd day covers offered here, represent a labor of love in obtaining the cancels in many cities and towns around the US.Each of these FDC's is addressed to the creator of the item.
