Description: On June 10, 1978, the Postal Service issued a souvenir sheet of 8 13-cent stamps titled "Wildlife of the Wilderness." The wildlife pictured appear all over the North American continent; perhaps that is why the First Day of Issue ceremonies were held, and the covers stamped, in Toronto, Canada. The eight animals pictured are: raccoon, moose, chipmunk, Canada goose, cardinal, mallard, blue jay, and red fox. These 9 covers - 8 individual ones, 1 of the entire sheet - are cacheted by Fleetwood in that company's usual artistic and colorful style. Each cover has text on the back that describes each stamp, too. All 9 are canceled with the First Day of Issue cancellation from Toronto on June 10, 1978. The result is a particularly attractive set of 9 FDCs that would be a great addition to any cover collection. The stamps are attractive, and the cachets are even more so. Check the scan for details.
