The stand is made to simulate the characteristics of the barrel mount, sight and lug of the USM1 Garand. The M5 bayonet was designed for use during the Korean War as a result of soldiers compalining they couln't remove the M1 bayonet while wearing cold weather gloves. The M5 has no Muzzle ring and instead used the gas cyliner as it's means of attachment. This stand can be used for either the M1or the M5. ( Not: This stand will be available for the M1 in the November/December timeframe.) You can use this listing to order the Stand only (5 x 7" plaque : $15.00) or the Stand with M8A1 Scabbard Holder (7 x 9" Plaque: $22.00) You bayonet mounts to the lug and locks in in the same way it would on the original. You have to push the release button to disengage it. It Locks in for safety! With this listing you can choose from the many variations and option. And 4 Felt "Feet" to protect your furniture. The bayonet base and barrel is made of PLA plastic filament that screws down to the plaque. A wooden dowel is inserted into the base and barrel acting as the main support. The barrel The "Lug" or base uses the same locking mechanism as the actual rifle so the bayonet is held securely in place. Obviously correct safety precautions and handling should be used when handling bayonets. The Bayonet Lug, optional scabbard holder, & optional barrel pieces are made of PLA plastic filiment. With the exception of the 2 mounting screws, THERE ARE NO METAL PARTS IN THIS STAND.Stands include four (4) felt "feet" to protect furniture. See the pictures for details.
