The 6105-8110 is the robust every man watch with it's reputation for value upon which the Japanese giant built its name. Produced from 1968 to 1977, the 6105 is considered the most iconic vintage dive watch by many horologists of today- you can still see the influence in modern watches today with the 4 o'clock crown and cushion-shaped case. During the Vietnam War, U.S. troops were known to buy the 6105-8110 at Post Exchanges on military bases in Southeast Asia. Many were worn through combat and made their way back to the U.S on the wrists of services members after their tours were complete. In 1979 the film 'Apocalypse Now' was released, the character Captain Willard (Martin Sheen) famously wears a 6105-8110 throughout the film. This combination of history and film nostalgia is one of the main reasons the 6105 has become so popular.
