In that kamikaze attack, 339 men were killed, including my great grandfather. This newsletter is Vol. 2 No. 32 and dates from September 9, 1944. At that time the Bunker Hill was heading for the Philippine Islands as part of Task Force 58.1 under the command of Admiral Marc Mitscher. The Bunker Hill supported raids on Davao and Mindanao. This 8 page newsletter includes navel news, sports news, scuttlebutt and the usual jokes and comics. It also includes episode 6 of the serialized story ”China Sailor” by O.C. Hand. It measures 5 ½” x 8”. If you or anyone you know has any connection with the Bunker Hill, this original authentic newsletter would be a fascinating and historic memento. It is in fair condition. The paper has yellowed from age and there is some light spotting and light creasing as well as a very small tear in the margin.
